Proposals for publishing A system of anatomy and physiology, human and comparative. In two volumes quarto. By Busick Harwood, M.D. F.R.S. and S.A. Professor of Anatomy in the University of Cambridge. In which the Structure of the Human Body, and of all the different Classes of Animals, will be investigated; their several Organs compared with the corresponding Parts in the Human Species; and their various Functions more fully explained than has hitherto been attempted by Analogy. The above Work will be printed at the Expence of the University, and the Syndics of the University Press will fix the Price of it upon Publication. - But as a great Number of very expensive Plates will be requisite for the Illustration of the various Subjects upon which it must necessarily treat, the Author solicits a Subscription of Two Guineas for the Engravings, Half to be paid at the Time of subscribing, and the Remainder upon the Delivery of the last Volume. Subscriptions are received by Messrs. White, Fleet Street; Mr. Walter, Charing Cross, London; Messrs. J. & J. Merrill, and Mr. Lunn, Cambridge; Mr. J. Cooke, Oxford Mrs. Duncan, Edinburgh; Mr. Horden, Peterborough; and Mrs. Jenkinson, Huntingdon. The Impressions will be delivered to the Subscribers according to the Date of their Subscriptions; and the Price of the Engravings to Nonsubscribers will be doubled.

A course of lectures on the theory and practice of midwifery: in which, Every Thing essentially necessary to the true Knowledge of that Art will be fully explain'd, and clearly demonstrated; particularly, those Operations which are conformable to the Principles of mechanical Motion. Of the Form, Structure and constituent Parts of the Female Pelvis. Of the Organs of Generation, and the Doctrine of Conception;-The Nutrition and Situation of the Foetus in Utero, and its gradual Increase from its Rudiments to the Time of Birth. The Pathology, Treatment and Cure of the various Diseases incident to Child-Bearing Women and Infants, with the Regimen necessary to be observed, respecting the Non-Naturals, viz. Air, Diet, Motion and Rest, Sleep and Watching, Retention, Excretion and the Passions of the Mind. The Antient and Modern Manner of delivering Women in laborious and preternatural Cases compared; with a View of the Advantages and Defects of the Means proposed for that End. - For the clearer Demonstration of Operative Midwisry (whether simply by the Hand or the Application of Instruments) the several Methods of assisting both in natural and preternatural Labours, will not only be described according to the most approved modern Practice, but likewise distinctly shewn, by an artificial Representation of each difficult Case, upon Machines for that Purpose; constructed upon new Principles, and made to the most exact Imitation of real Women and Children. The Whole will be illustrated by such anatomical Preparations as are applicable to each Lecture; together with various practical Observations, extraordinary Cases, and necessary Cautions; but particularly, by real Labours. A catalogue of pictures collected abroad by Mr. Edmund Glover, who is going to reside at Oporto, Consisting of several valuable painting by Old Palma, Castiglione, Guerchino, Rembrandt, Dominichino, P. Brill, Vandervelde, D. Teniers, Claude, Solimene, Bott, N. Poussin, &c. Also some curious bronzes: Which will be sold by auction, at Mr. Ford's great room in the Hay-Market, on Tuesday the 16th, Wednesdy the 17th, and Thursday the 18th of this instant March. -And on Friday the 19th, and the following days, - will be sold by auction, at Mr. Ford's, a collection of curious old Japan China, in jars, beakers, bowls, dishes, &c. several pieces of the brown edge, and some exceedings fine dresden. Rare old India Japan, in cabinets, chests, &c. beautiful inlaid tables; soem fashionable plate, jewels, watches, snuff-boxes, mathematical instruments, various curiosities, and rich lace heads of the newest pattern: likewise a chamber organ of an exceeding fine tone, two harpsichords, a chariot, &c. The said collections of pictures, China, &c. may be view'd at Mr. Ford's on Friday the 12th, and the following days till the time of sale, which will begin each day exactly at half on hour after eleven o'clock.
